This is actually pretty awesome. You use your gold trophies to bid on the items you want most. They, of course, won't actually disappear from your account or anything like that.

I saw this at another site and I was considering posting it, but since it's here I'll just comment.

I love the idea of trading in my game time for real world items. Sweet.

However, I game on Wii U, Wii, PS2, other cIassic machines, 360, handhelds in addition to PS3 so I don't stand a chance to those that strictly PS3 game.That said I have 450+ Gold Trophies, so maybe I could win something, but probably not.

Still, great idea for fans of THE LAST OF US, Killzone, SKYRIM, Diablo III, Infamous, etc.

I thought I had a lot of trophies but NOPE.

This is a really cool idea. I hopw this isn't just a one time thing. They should keep this up with new prizes maybe every summer or something.

P.S. this has suddenly become a lot less cool. I am prohibited from participating because I'm Canadian... That's just stupid

I was trying to convince my uncle (who happens to work at Sony ;)) to bid, he's got like 1500 gold trophies, but unfortunately, he can't.

It seems like a good idea until you realize how easy it is to hack and add trophies, then apply them to the auction to win the items.

Thankfully the hacker that tried to cheat and win was removed. Still, the legit competition is tremedous.

LOL, I only have 77 gold trophies. I don't stand a chance.
